The \teachers\ at Music Makers seem to come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Most who do not have much teaching qualifications in the slightest. It is important that music teachers not only need to be proficient performers, but need to also understand how to effectively communicate, organize and process music materials. I have had quite a few different teachers and it is evident that this music school does not ensure quality standards for their teaching staff. Every teacher had a completely different approach and this really threw me off. One teacher seemed to be very good and emphasize many important aspects of playing, while others did not even mention such details and gave me poor guidance on resources to use. The walls in the studios are peeling and the space is cramped. Not to mention that the pianos used at their ecitals\ are very low-quality uprights that are out of tune. If you are to have a proper music school, it must be equipped with high-quality equipment and knowledgeable teachers - which this studio is NOT!! After quitting lessons at music makers, I went to study with a professional musician who showing me truly how to play music and fixing the years of errors that I acquired thanks to the poor quality of lessons at music makers. I wish I had left earlier. In terms of the store itself, it seems that the staff are highly friendly, yet uneducated and unfamiliar with the materials of music themselves, as well as instruments. This renders them unhelpful sometimes when trying to answer questions about various musical topics. Often when ordering sheet music, it takes WEEKS to ship. Would not recommend to anyone.
