I am writing to you on behalf of my fiancé who was slated to complete a Class 5 Advanced Road Test today at A-Plus Registry located at 3604 52 Ave NW #114, Calgary, AB T2L 1V9. When he arrived for his 9:30am appointment they did an assessment of his vehicle and assessed that his back cab light was not functional as well as he had window tint and that his road test could not be completed and therefore his money was forfeited. While I understand the rules and regulations in place, I simply feel this is unacceptable and quite frankly robbery as it’s 150.00 to complete the exam. If this is the case the individual should be granted the opportunity to come prior to their appointment to confirm if their vehicle is worthy of the test and if not they should be given the chance to obtain another vehicle prior to their test starting. He was given this opportunity 10 years ago when he got his initial license at the same registry. In addition to the previous stated thought I also feel that the registry should have some compassion and flexibility to move the person to another spot during the same day (in this case there were several appointments in the afternoon). I just have to say I am truly disappointed with this situation and the money grab it is for individuals who are trying to better their futures and need a full Class 5 to obtain certain jobs. Sadly a lesson learned today but I feel Alberta Transportation and Alberta Registry's need to do better.

On several occasions I have tried to have paper work processed at this location. The staff is unhelpful, rude, and combative. I certainly question their credibility and knowledge on even the most basic subjects. Wait times are long, the process is disorganized, and you really cannot be sure you will get the right information. I suspect they would also lose my applications after the fact as they demonstrate very careless handling after taking your documents. Use your time wisely and go to the Registry Express in North Hill Mall, a much better experience!

I wouldn't recommend this place for a class 4 road test. Just because you may not understand the road terrain. The examiner's intent is to trick you. Everything went well for me until the examine said make a left turn and go STRAIGHT. it was really dark, unknown to me, there was a keep right road sign leading unto a two way traffic (divided road) , immediately after the left turn.. the road is so awkward that you have to make a quickly 10 degree turn to merge onto the other lane. Or else you will have a head collision with the cars on the opposite direction. it's not that I don't know my keep right road sign, I mean I encounter that sign everyday, but in all my 8 years of driving , I have never driven on such awkward road design. And I can bet you,it's those kind of roads you always want to avoid. Why would my examiner say make a left turn and go straight, when he knows that I would have to turn on to a divided traffic in less than one minute?
