THE TRUTH: My child has skated with this club for 12 years. The COACHES that are currently employed here are the best of the best. We have many very successful, talented skaters that skate out of SCBC including NATIONAL COMPETITORS AND NATIONAL WINNERS. We currently hold the AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR OUR CANSKATE PROGRAM**** You do not get these kinds of results without a great faculty and devoted membership base.**** The current Coaches always act in the best interest of the children, and not only mentor them in exceptional skating skills, but also act as a mentor for overall good sportsmanship and well being. This is made possible by a fantastic, dedicated, knowledgeable, confident Board of Directors. If you are considering a figure skating club, don’t read reviews by disgruntled people to choose a place for your child. These bad reviews are written by people who do not know the whole truth, they have not heard the horrible nasty things said to their children by an ex- now-fired coach, nor that their children were told to “run into” other skaters that got in their way. That is dangerous instruction that no club should tolerate, it only leads to negative outcomes for the kids. *******************************************If you truly want to see an AMAZING skating club in action, COME HERE, VISIT US, SEE HOW WE OPERATE, TALK TO PEOPLE/ PARENTS/ COACHES/ BOARD MEMBERS, BE INVOLVED. ****************************** I highly recommend this club, and am honored to know; and be a part of; this skating club. My kids have been with the club since CanSkate program and continue to progress thru the competitive skating levels. Overall, the programs and coaches are very good. Cassie Campbell Community Centre is also an excellent facility. For one-on-one training, you need to do some due diligence when selecting a coach (or coaches). Don't judge the club based on what one coach or parent tells you. There's always another side to the story. Obligatory Disclaimer: I am not a present or past board member, staff, coach, or student.

I skated for this club and taught canskate for many years as a program assistant. They would put credits into an account for future use. I inquired about adult programs later in life and I wanted to use the funds I earned as a program assistant to pay a portion of my registration fees. When I called they told me I only had a small amount of funds left.. Meanwhile I never used the funds, ever!. After many years of coaching I would have had a couple hundred dollars to use. I distinctly recall requesting some funds to be paid to my coaches back then but they said never received It. I had told the person in charge of the funds and asked for the money to be sent back to my account and my parents ended up paying the coaches directly what should have come out of my account. .. Long story short, many years later I found out that the funds were never sent back to my account and I'm very disappointed at the very least seeing as how I was a child at the time you tend to trust those in charge. I'll join anywhere but this club. Keep an eye on your children's accounts if this is still how program assistants work. They also would have us sign In before each shift and some weeks the sheet wouldn't be there but we were told we'd still get the credit.. also had issues with not being fully credited.

My girls are in the CanSkate program and they both love it: the staff and volunteers here are the best and they get so much one on one attention. So pleased with the program - it's really well done and the kids have a great time as they learn to skate.
