Inviting atmosphere and opening hours that are beyond any other establishment on Bowen but.......Food wasn't all that great. I mean it was ok, but nothing to write home about. Both of us agreed that every dish we had was missing something, salt, heat,......something. Overall we had a nice time, but the price tag was expensive for the quality of food received. This place would be closed quickly if located in Vancouver due to competition.

My boyfriend and I came to Bowen Island for the weekend and were deciding where to eat when a passerby said Barcelona was new and had great tapas! We went in feeling really excited! We ordered some drinks and the night was off to a good start! We chose 5 dishes to try. First we received the chorizo; it had no spice, little flavour. Left us feeling like it wasn't even a classic chorizo sausage. Next the potatoes arrived! Pretty decent but still just missing something. We got anchovies on toast and this was the most disappointing. It was served with a chunk of tomato and had some anchovies thrown on top. No seasoning and the tomato could've been prepared a lot nicer and was just visually unappealing. We also tried the octopus which was overcooked, chewy and tasted like the potato dish-same sauce, no seasoning. Lastly we had the meatballs which seemed to be served in a jar of tomato sauce from the shop with no salt to be found let alone any seasoning. The chorizo, octopus and meatballs were all burnt. Overall left feeling really disappointed with our meal. Not only was the meal subpar but the service wasn't any better. 3 tables surrounding us complained and not once was there a genuine apology. They gave them dishes for free which is very generous but sometimes a \sorry\ can go a long way too! This place has so much potential so hopefully improves in the future.
