I think the concept of this organization is certainly good - however their clear failures and bureaucracy having gotten to the size they have is very evident. Your time and money would be better spent donating to more grassroots organizations like the Victoria Cat Rescue Corps Society, as they have a smaller organization and won't transfer cats that you have put in to adopt to a branch on the other side of the island without providing any updates on your adoption process for two weeks. Edit: after being replied to I attempted to get in contact with them again only to find that after 20 minutes of trying starting at 4pm when I'd gotten home they had disabled their phone system and in order to get a hold of any human being I had to go to a different branch, and while they were helpful and sympathetic they could not get in contact either. So I will be changing my review to one star. Edit 2: Spoke to the manager, she was not aware that not all applicants had been reviewed before she was informed there were no fits locally and apologized for the situation. I'll bump the review back up to 2 stars but don't think I'll be adopting from them in future.

Overall, we've been quite impressed with this SPCA. The majority of staff have been friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. One exception on our last visit (didn't get her name, working on the front desk) she was not very bright or friendly, to put it bluntly. Otherwise, the staff have been very nice. Clean, tidy looking facility throughout. One complaint is how warm the cat rooms are kept. Very uncomfortable to be in there very long. I don't think this is helpful for the pets either. Warm is good but this is excessive. May be why a lot of the cats seem so lethargic too. Not to mention what that must cost . The first time I've encountered this at any shelter.
