After many years of putting it off, I finally took up singing lessons in 2020. I got a few lessons gifted by my partner that were so good I signed up for a 10 week block. Dorcas studio is a safe, fun, relaxed atmosphere with Dorcas providing a plethora of tips not only to improve the voice but also to improve vocal health - something relatively new to me! I feel I've steadily improved in our short time together focused on soft-palette lifts and breathwork I'm much more comfortable on both ends of my range. Most importantly, I've enjoyed the sessions - a break from work and the 'usual' hobbies! I'd happily recommend Dorcas to anyone looking to improve their vocal skills!

Dorcas is a wonderful singing teacher who is not only extremely knowledgeable but also passionate about the art of teaching singing. She doesn't rush the process but focuses on building on the right technique and foundation. Her positivity is contagious and it cannot be understated how important it is to have a teacher who believes in your potential.

After 5 singing teachers, I felt so grateful to find Dorcas for my daughter, Tina. Here are her feelings about Mrs. Dorcas: "Dorcas is a detailed, passionate, and humorous singing teacher, and I noticed that even just after a few lessons. My voice really began to shine in its own way, and she helped guide me through patiently. She clearly knows what and how she is teaching a person, and what the problems are that a student did not realize or understand. She gets her full attention on you when there is a lesson, and you can sense that. From time to time, she gets humorous and makes the atmosphere of the room very comfortable. In the room that she teaches me, my voice is heard naturally, and it is not being remade by an auto-tuned microphone. While other singing teachers might praise themselves or somehow convince their students that singing the teacher’s way is better, Dorcas knows and understands that songs can and should be sung in our own ways. For example, I was singing a Christmas song for the Christmas showcase she was doing, and she reminded me on the first or second week that the song should be sung the ’Tina way’. So we remixed here and there in the song, and it made it so much more special and unique. And I felt like I was motivated and enthusiastic because it was so intriguing. In addition to my voice, I felt like I can really sing it with all my heart as much as I can, and without having to bother to think about if I did this or that wrong. I have been taking weekly lessons with Dorcas since April and am so happy to have found her vocal studio. I took the plunge and signed up for vocal lessons with Dorcas as opposed to the typical music store and I'm glad I did! Dorcas is such a fun and authentic person on top of being an amazing instructor that I was easily able to get rid of any inhibitions or shyness I had as someone with zero singing experience. I highly recommend taking classes with her :)
